Go2IT Announces the Acquisition of North Coast Computers!

Go2IT is excited to announce the acquisition of North Coast Computers, a professional IT Services firm based out of Avon Lake, Ohio.  North Coast offers Managed IT Services, IT Consulting, and Break/Fix Services.  By combining these two organizations, Go2IT further enhances its service offerings and emerges as a clear leader in the Managed IT Services market in Cleveland, Ohio.  For Jon Jones, Vice President of Go2IT, the deal made perfect sense.   “Our service line closely matches that of North Coast Computers, and with a customer base heavily focused on the westside of Cleveland, Ohio, we knew this was an incredible opportunity to expand our footprint and add some really great resources to our team.”

In addition to adding to its Managed Services portfolio, Go2IT will also be adding a Retail division that North Coast built over many years.  “Customers can bring in their personal PC’s, Laptops and Tablets directly into our Westlake, Ohio facility and have it repaired at a discounted price.  We’re very excited to be able to offer this service to residents in Westlake and the surrounding community.”  Go2IT is located at 26260 Center Ridge Rd., Westlake, OH at the corner of Center Ridge Rd and Canterbury Rd.

Ransomware In the Workplace

By Go2ITGroup
October 08, 2019 Category: General

Ransomware is unfortunately a regular headline when reading or watching the news. While news outlets regularly report of Ransomwares crippling effects on businesses or governments, rarely do we hear the reasons why the attack was successful and how it was resolved. When discussing ransomware attacks with our clients, we stress that it is better to have proper security in place, preventing a vast majority of these attacks from taking place. Ransomware should also be part of backup and disaster recovery plans to help contain and quickly mitigate the damage from these attacks without paying the ransom. Paying the ransom encourages these attacks to continue because it is profitable for criminals to sustain these attacks in search of the next victim. Criminals use multiple ways of compromising your infrastructure to perpetuate Ransomware. Much like how a burglar will look at a building and find a weak point to enter, ransomware criminals will do the same to enter into the organizations IT infrastructure.

Along with Windows 7, Microsoft Server 2008, 2008R2, and Exchange 2010 are all coming to End of Life on January 14th, 2020. After that date, Microsoft will not provide free security updates, patches, and technical support. Our experienced project team will help you plan, optimize, and migrate your environment with minimal downtime, and get your domain servers and applications up and running on the latest hardware and operating systems. Whether you chose to migrate your on-premise Exchange 2010 email to the cloud with Office 365 or migrate your domain to a 2016+ environment on-premise, Go2IT has the experience to make this transition a smooth and secure migration.

With the upcoming End of Life for Windows 7, there is no better time than now to start upgrading your business workstations to Windows 10. On January 14th, 2020, Microsoft will officially drop support for Windows 7. This means that after that date, Microsoft will no longer provide support, security patches, and software updates to the Windows 7 operating systems. In todays world, where cyber-security is of extreme importance, this is a big deal. After January 14th, any vulnerability or exploit that cyber-criminals find with Windows 7, will not be patched. This leaves any computer running Windows 7 unsecure, and extremely vulnerable to potential hacks, viruses, and ransomware attacks that we have all heard about. Even with updated and active antivirus software on your Windows 7 computer, without security and software updates from Microsoft, these machines are a massive risk to your businesss security. If something should happen with your workstation running Windows 7, or an issue that Microsoft
